Towing Laws

8. We will be traveling through other states this year, where can I find information about towing laws in other states?

We don't maintain information about towing laws or regulations on our site but we do provide links to Blue Ox and Roadmaster.  Both provide information about towing laws and guidelines in all 50 States and Canada.  These links can be found under the "Useful Links" menu item "Tow Bars".

Where am I

9. While we do not supply global positioning software on our web site we do think this is valuable and useful information.

While on a recent trip my wife and I ran into some very unpleasant weather more than once.  Specifically thunderstorms with torrential rains, flash flooding, large hail, high winds and tornado warnings, with an additional warning that told us "you should now be in your safe place if you live at ........" (I'm not quite sure where the safe place is in motor home during a tornado).   While we never actually suffered any damage to our motor home it led to some very tense and sleepless situations until we could actually locate us in relationship to the storm. All the news/weather reports go by county, town, cross street, etc...  As a result, we made sure that part of our check in procedure was to know what county we were in, what the local severe weather warning system was, what were nearby cross streets and all the other pertinent information necessary to ensure we knew where we were and what to do in case of an emergency.

Tow Vehicles

10. I'm interested in buying a new tow vehicle is there any information available on tow vehicles?

Information is available under the "Other Useful Links" menu item "Tow Bars" and follow the link to "Blue Ox Towing World - Towing Laws by State and 2006 Guide to Dinghy Towing".

HOV Lanes

11. Can I use the "HOV" lanes when driving my motor home?

In the state of Washington, according to the Washington State Patrol you can use the HOV lanes when driving your motor home and you have the required number of passengers.  However, a different regulation applies when you are TOWING A VEHICLE and as a result you are NOT PERMITTED to use the HOV lanes.  You should always check the local laws of other states when traveling.

Copy and Paste

12. I'm new to using a computer and I've heard the term "copy and paste", what does it mean?

Copy and paste is an easy task. You can copy and paste just about anything: text, web pages, files, pictures, etc. The idea behind the process is to take information from one place and deposit it into another.

For example, if you are working in a word processing document and need to copy and paste a section of your document into an e-mail.  Here is how:

  1. First, you will need to select the text you wish to copy.  Position your mouse cursor at the first character you want to copy and, holding down the left mouse button, drag the cursor to the last character you need copied.  As you drag, you will notice everything is now highlighted (selected).

  2. Next, right-click the selected area. Choose ‘Copy’ from the menu that pops up (or you can use CTRL-C if you like keyboard shortcuts).

  3. Finally, right-click the area in your e-mail document where you would like to insert the text.  Click ‘Paste’ from the menu that pops up (For this, CTRL-V is your keyboard shortcut).

The steps are the same for any copy and paste procedure you need to do.

  • If you want to get a little creative, place your cursor at the first character you want selected and, while holding down the SHIFT key, click next to the last character you want selected.  It is sometimes easier to follow this procedure than to make selections by dragging, especially when you have a lengthy document to be copied.

  • Another way to use the SHIFT key is adding to an existing selection.  For example, you select an area of text and you came up short of what you really needed.  Rather than trying to re-select the whole section, hit the SHIFT key and click your mouse where you would like the selection to end. (You can also shorten a selection by doing this too).

  • After you have used the SHIFT key to get your text selected, follow the pervious steps to copy/paste.

  • To copy an entire page of text, hold down Control (Ctrl) and hit the letter "A". This highlights the entire page, which can be ‘Copied’, then ‘Pasted’ within the document or to another document (such as email).
